Where Paths Cross: Training, Nutrition, Healthy Mind

This is where everything comes together. We've discussed nutrition, we've discussed training and we've talked emotional wellness.  Let's put those together to make an incredible you.

To lose fat, not muscle and water loss, you need to restrict your Caloric intake without starving yourself, make sure that your diet includes a great blend of macronutrients and incorporate strength training into your exercise routine.

Your body will respond to these efforts appropriately.

To gain lean mass, not fat, you need to make certain you eat enough to gain, make sure your diet includes a great blend of macronutrients and incorporate strength training into your exercise routine.

Your body will respond to these efforts appropriately.

You may see a pattern developing here.

The human body is a remarkable thing. Our bodies want to be fit and healthy. Of course, the statements above reflect a broad overview of weight loss and weight gain. There are many other factors involved (ie. hormones, health related conditions etc.), but the simple fact is that when you give your body the tools to be fit, the inevitable result is fitness. If you try to lift weight beyond your current capacity, your body responds in a “metaphorically egotistical” way. Eventually, it will make lifting that heavier weight possible. If you teach your body that it will have all of the nutrients readily available to provide energy for physiological function at any time, it will not try to store energy but will expend (or metabolize) that energy more often.

Get fit and healthy for you. Yes, the benefit of being fit and healthy will have a positive effect on your children and loved ones, but it has to be for you. Much of the battle in health and fitness, as well as in life, is fear of failure. We have a tendency to talk ourselves out of something before we ever begin. Fear of failure creates a breeding ground for excuses.

“What if I cannot lose weight?” …

“What if I gain it all back?” …

“How will I find the time?” …

"What if I fail?
