Macronutrients

What are Macronutrients?

When we see food in terms of Calories, we miss a bigger picture. If you took a look at what is a Calorie, anywaywe discussed the fact that not all Calories are created equal. Macronutrients (macros) are the next chapter of that discussion.

There are three classes of macros: Carbohydrates, Protein and Fat. You need these in your diet (yes, even fat). More importantly, your diet will consist of macros whether you track them or not. It's important to make sure you have a good balance.

Research suggests that a macronutrient approach to diet is beneficial, but is not a "one-size-fits-all" solution.  Diet will vary on an indiviual basis. The BMR/TDEE and macros calculators are intended to be a guide to healthy eating.

If you've used the BMR and TDEE calculator you can enter those values here at the macronutrients calculator. We list a 40/30/30 and 50/30/20 macro mix.
