TRAINING FOR SPARC:
Speed. Power. Agility. Reaction Time. Coordination. We incorporate all of these skills into the framework of our training programs. We can give you S.P.A.R.C.
Speed: the ability to move your body or parts of your body swiftly. Quickness is a result of strength and flexibility. Any action the body performs is controlled by skeletal muscle. Strength of fast twitch and slow twitch fibers increases speed and combined with flexibility, reduces injury.
Power: the ability to move the body parts swiftly while applying the maximum force of the muscles. Power is a combination of both speed and muscular strength. By some definitions, power is speed.
Agility: the ability to change and control the direction and position of the body while maintaining a constant, rapid motion. Changing direction on the basketball court, switching from your forehand to your backhand on the tennis court and all similar function require agility.
Reaction Time: the ability to reach or respond quickly to what you hear, see, or feel. At The Science of Fitness, we place a lot of emphasis on reaction time. Mental sharpness combined with physical ability is practical in almost any situation.
Coordination and Balance: the ability to use the senses together with body parts during movement and the ability to control or stabilize the body when a person is standing still or moving. Coordination and balance are another component of fitness that apply to many everyday circumstances.
